What counts as household rubbish

Household rubbish is anything the weekly bins will not take, and it is usually bulkier than people expect once it is out of the room. The common ones are old furniture and couches, whitegoods, mattresses and bed frames, and the layer of boxes, tools and half-finished projects that settles in a garage or shed over a decade.

We also take the awkward things that fall between categories - a BBQ, an exercise bike, a broken TV, garden waste from the same visit. If it fits in the truck and it is not hazardous, it goes. If you are not sure, send a photo and we will tell you straight away.

What household rubbish removal costs

It is priced by the volume it takes up in the truck, so the number is fixed before we start rather than climbing with the hours. Small loads begin at our $200 minimum - a couch and a couple of boxes, say. A single-room clear-out or a garage tidy usually sits between a quarter and a half truck. A full house clear-out, a downsizing move, or a home that has been lived in for thirty years is often a full load or more.

We quote from a photo in most cases, which saves a visit for both of us. Whatever the size, we will beat any comparable written quote by 10%.

You do not need to bring anything to the kerb. Our crew carries it out from wherever it sits - upstairs bedrooms, a rear shed, a loft, behind a side gate, down a shared driveway. That is the part most people are actually paying for, and it is the reason a skip is not the bargain it looks like.

What "same day" actually means

Call before midday and we can usually clear a home that afternoon somewhere in Melbourne. Later than that and it is normally the following morning. Same-day is genuinely common for household jobs because they rarely need a long visit - it is the whole-house clearances that need booking in.
