Couch & Sofa Removal Melbourne

Old couch taking up the lounge room? We carry it out from wherever it sits, upstairs units included, and take it away. Send a photo for a fixed price, often the same day.

What we take

Any couch, any size

Couches and sofasTwo-seaters, three-seaters and old lounge suites
Modular and corner loungesBig L-shapes and multi-piece modulars
Sofa bedsHeavy fold-out metal frame and all
ReclinersIncluding electric recliners, handled as e-waste
Armchairs and ottomansSingle chairs, footstools and day beds
The rest of the roomCoffee tables, TV units and rugs on the same trip
The awkward part

Upstairs, tight hallways and no lift

Old couches are rarely sitting somewhere easy. They are up a flight of stairs, at the end of a narrow hallway, or in a unit with no lift. That is normal work for us, and you do not lift a thing.

When you book, tell us about stairs, lifts, narrow hallways or tight doorways, and send a photo of the way out if you can. We will plan how to get it out before we arrive, so the right crew turns up ready for it.

Worth knowing

Couch plus the rest, one visit

Most people with an old couch also have a bed frame, a TV or a few boxes they have been meaning to shift. One trip for all of it is usually better value than booking a couch on its own and a second job later.

  • One visit and one fixed price for the lot
  • Bed frames, TVs and boxes on the same trip
  • Price agreed from a photo, before anything is lifted

Pricing

What couch removal costs

Our minimum charge is $200 for any job. That covers the truck, the crew and the trip out to you. On a bigger load, a couch typically adds around $100 to $150, depending on its size.

Just the one couch? Give us a call. Depending on where you are and what is already on the run, we can sometimes do better, and we will tell you straight if a free option suits you better. Full prices are in our junk removal cost guide.

Before you book

The free options, honestly

Council hard rubbish. Most Melbourne councils take furniture, couches included, in their hard rubbish collections, within each council volume limit. If your street has a collection coming up and you can wait, that is the free option. Rules and dates vary, so check your council first: hard rubbish collection rules by council.

Charity. If the couch is clean, undamaged and still comfortable, a charity that takes furniture may want it. Pickup policies vary and many will not collect, so call ahead, and expect a no for anything stained, torn or sagging.

Give it away. A couch in decent shape often goes quickly on local buy-nothing and marketplace groups, usually to someone who will come and collect it.

When we are the better call: it is upstairs or awkward to get out, you have no trailer or help, you cannot wait for council, or it is going with a load of other things.

After pickup

Where your old couch ends up

Anything still usable goes to reuse where possible, and the rest is disposed of properly, not dumped. Electric recliners have a motor and wiring, which counts as e-waste in Victoria, so they go through the e-waste stream. More on that: e-waste disposal in Melbourne.

Questions

Couch removal FAQs

Can you take a couch from an upstairs apartment with no lift?

Yes. Stairs and walk-ups are normal work for us. Tell us the floor and the access when you book, and send a photo of the stairwell if it is tight, so we turn up ready for it.

Do you take sofa beds?

Yes. The fold-out metal frame makes a sofa bed a lot heavier than it looks, so mention it is a sofa bed when you book and we will plan for the weight.

Can you take an electric recliner?

Yes. An electric recliner has a motor and wiring, and in Victoria anything with a plug counts as e-waste, so it goes through the e-waste stream rather than general waste.

What if the couch will not fit out the door?

Send a photo of the doorway, hallway or stairwell when you book. We will work out the way out before we arrive, so there are no surprises on the day.

Will council hard rubbish take my couch?

Usually, yes. Most Melbourne councils accept furniture in their hard rubbish collections, within each council volume limit and on their dates. Check your own council rules first, and book us if you cannot wait or it will not fit the limit.

Can I donate my old couch?

If it is clean and in good condition, possibly. Charity rules and pickup policies vary and many will not collect, so call ahead. Expect a no for anything stained, torn or sagging.
